The Prophet ﷺ said: “Verily, in the body is a piece of flesh which, if sound, the entire body is sound, and if corrupt, the entire body is corrupt. Truly, it is the heart” (Bukhari). This world is designed as a rest stop for the believer. As we travel through the Dunya, we will be tested with our attachments, the things we love, pain, loss, as well as joy, the blessings we receive. All of this is designed for one purpose, to bring us back to God. I believe the heart is a compass, a vessel, that can either work with us or against us, depending on what we feed it. It is essential we do all that we can do to cleanse, protect, and feed our heart with that which will allow its landscape to bloom. By healing the diseases that ravage the heart, and fortifying it with the remembrance of God, do we then stand a chance to swim in the ocean of this world. It is the heart that demands our attention. If we rid it of the diseases of comparison, remove the social and environmental conditioning and remove the darkness that can enter it, we will make a critical shift from surviving in your storms to thriving in them. The latter leads us to transformation. Take back your power, and break the shackles that break you to recognise the power of God and understand a glimpse of His deep love for us.
